- Consumers only buy products and services that benefit them. The key phrase here is, “that benefit them.” To succeed at this, you will need to know your client well and how your product is beneficial to them. If there is no benefit to the consumer, then there is no repeat business, and you may possibly even have a dissatisfied customer.
- The greater the value, the greater the price tag. It is basic human nature to like expensive things; in marketing, it’s called the Placebo Effect – the more we pay more for something, the more our brains will trick us into thinking that the product is especially exquisite.
- Credibility relies on two things: trust and expertise. You are only as good as your word – so be careful to not overpromise. Be sure to take the time to continuously learn about your industry, product, or craft.
- You are your greatest asset. This takes the concept of trust and expertise to another level. Once you have your customer’s trust, give them your time and attention. Being fully engaged and sincere with your client will positively reinforce the trust they already have in you.
- Expect a give and give relationship. Your relationship with your customer will never be a give and take relationship. You will not just give them a service and then take their money; the money is actually a contractual obligation – you are obliged to continuously find ways to give value and meaning to your customers.
