Diploma Programs

The Diploma in Hospitality Operations (DHO) is for students who are just beginning their hospitality careers. The DHO is a 360 clock-hour program, consisting of 33 quarter credits, and can typically be achieved in as few as 11 months. There are five required courses, including: Hospitality Today, Hospitality Marketing and Sales, Hospitality Supervision, Professional Presence in Hospitality, and the Hospitality Externship, in which students gain real world experience by shadowing industry professionals in the field. Students in the DHO program also choose two elective courses (Conference Management and Event Planning, Hotel Operations, or Wedding Coordination and Design; and Art of Concierge, Event Design and Production, or Meeting and Event Catering). Through the choice of electives, students are able to customize their education and chart their unique path towards their career goal in the industry. The only prerequisite requirement for the DHO program is a high school diploma or equivalent; there is no work experience required.
For students who already have at least 2 years of supervisory experience in the hospitality industry, TISOH offers the Executive Diploma in Hospitality Operations (EDHO) program. Designed to teach students hospitality leadership, human resources management, marketing and sales fundamentals, and data-driven decision making, the EDHO is a 315 clock-hour program, consisting of 31.5 quarter credits, and five required courses. Course requirements include: Hospitality Human Resources, Hospitality Leadership and Management, Hospitality Marketing and Sales, Revenue Management and Analytics, and Hospitality Colloquia.
